Qualifications, training and my approach

My background

I have been working professionally and therapeutically with people for twenty years and I have a broad range of skills and experience. I started working as a counsellor within the NHS in 2010 and then a city centre agency, before starting my private practice in 2013. I work with both individuals and couples. I also supervise trainee and more experienced counsellors and psychotherapists both on an individual and group basis. I offer a collaborative and reflective space to support them in their work.

Personal Approach

My original training was in a holistic therapy and although I no longer practice in that field, I take my understanding of the mind/body connection into my work.

My Psychotherapy training is in Relational Transactional Analysis. TA is a humanistic theory, which outlines how we have developed and treat ourselves, how we relate and communicate with others. TA is underpinned by the philosophy that: people can change, we all have a right to be in the world and be accepted.

Together we will work to understand you and what you need from therapy, in order to help you move forward in your life. I want to see the world through your eyes.

I have a keen interest in attachment theory and how this affects our current relationships. I hold a Practitioner Certificate in Neuroscience & Attachment Theory from the Metanoia Institute London. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and have a post-graduate Diploma in Contemporary Trauma Practice from Relational Change.

I am committed to my professional development and so regularly attend workshops and conferences to deepen and broaden my knowledge.

I am a Registered member of the UKCP and adhere to their ethical guidelines. I am also a member of the following Transactional Analysis and professional organisations:

IARTA, EATA, UKATA, ITAA and TRS.
